Terms of use

Effective 29 August 2026.
Firelight is made and run by Sunaina Roy Chaudhuri, an individual (sole proprietor) in India — "I" and "me" below. These terms are an agreement between you and me, not between you and Apple. By creating a room or using the app you accept them. Contact: [email protected].

1. What Firelight is, and isn't

Firelight turns a conversation about what you want into a visualisation you listen to. It is a practice tool for focus and imagination. It is not medical care, mental-health treatment, therapy, counselling, or a substitute for any of them, and it makes no promise about what will happen in your life as a result of using it. If you are in distress or in danger, contact local emergency services or a helpline — in India, Tele-MANAS on 14416 is free and open at all hours.

2. Who can use it

  • You must be 18 or older.
  • One room per person, for your own personal, non-commercial use.
  • You will use it lawfully and won't try to break, overload, probe, or reverse-engineer the service, or use automated tools against it.

3. Your room and your passphrase

Your passphrase is the only key to your room. I hold no email address or phone number, so a forgotten passphrase cannot be recovered or reset; the room stays locked forever. You are responsible for keeping it safe and for anything done with it. You can erase your room at any time from your room, and erasure is immediate and permanent.

4. What's yours, what's mine

What you say, and the scripts and tracks made from it, are yours to keep, play, and use personally. You give me only the permission needed to run the service: to store your words, pass them to the AI services that write and voice your tracks, and play them back to you. The app itself — its software, design, name, flame, and voices — is mine, and you get a personal, non-transferable licence to use it on Apple devices you own or control, under the App Store's usage rules.

5. Allowances and fair use

Firelight is free. Each room has a monthly allowance of tracks (currently 12), which covers everything about a track — the conversation, the writing, the voice, replays. Because every track costs real money to make, I may change allowances, add paid options, or throttle, suspend, or close rooms that abuse the service. Any paid option will be clearly presented before you are charged anything.

6. AI-written content

Your tracks are written and spoken by AI. They can be wrong, odd, or not quite what you meant; you can edit any script before it is voiced, and you decide what to do with it. Do not treat anything the app says as medical, legal, financial, or professional advice.

7. Availability and changes

This is a small service run by one person. It may be interrupted, changed, or discontinued. I will try to give reasonable notice of anything that affects your room, and you can always erase it. If the service ends, rooms will be deleted after notice.

8. No warranty, limited liability

The app is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. To the same extent, my total liability to you for anything arising from the app is limited to the amount you have paid me in the previous twelve months — which, for a free app, is nothing. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

9. Apple

  • These terms are between you and me only; Apple is not a party and is not responsible for the app or its content.
  • Your licence to use the app is limited to Apple devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store terms.
  • I, not Apple, am responsible for maintenance and support, for the app's content, for any product or intellectual-property claims about it, and for addressing any complaint you or a third party has about it. Apple has no obligation to provide support.
  • If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price, if any; Apple has no other warranty obligation.
  • You confirm that you are not in a country under a U.S. government embargo or designated as "terrorist supporting", and not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • You will comply with any third-party terms that apply when using the app.
  • Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

10. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. If something goes wrong, write to me first — most things can be sorted out by email. Anything that can't will be heard by the courts at [[city]], India.

11. Changes to these terms

If these terms change, the new version will appear here with a new effective date, and any change that matters will be shown in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new terms.
